Creative Marketing Intern

In addition to marketing and sales campaign, I also worked as the photographer and videographer of Huixiang franchise in Shanghai. Using the language of visual culture, I tried to capture the exotic feature and the comfortable atmosphere of the restaurants.

Shanghai Huixiang

上海回乡

In the summer of 2016, my parents decided to open a restaurant to remember the tastes of their home, Ningxia, a beautiful yet distant place. Although they have lived in Shanghai for ten years now, as they always say, (To achieve one's destination one cannot forget why they start.), we went back to our hometown to retrace our childhoods and lost memories. Together, we started a company called Huixiang, which is literally translated as “coming back home”. At home, we observed ways to make delicious cuisines with local restaurants, established business partners, and searched for the most authentic food sources. However, I realized something different. In the vast wilderness of Ningxia’s landscape, I see more than just an unparalleled scenery, but the underlying inequality of resources, compared to those I am used to in Shanghai. Children went to work at a really early age, and girls were married because of their families’ requests. I felt uncomfortable. As I was also discovering myself, my identity, and my value in this world, I hoped to do something for these people as I am also part of them. So, I started to conceptualize a charity fund, endorsed by our company’s revenue, to help sustain children in Ningxia in terms of their educational needs, such as pens, books, and backpacks.

Here regard some posters I made on display both electronically and physically.

Through platforms like Wechat, Dazhong (similar to Yelp), and Weibo (similar to Twitter), this campaign lasted for two years and resulted in two rounds of donations with an amount of over thirty thousand worth of educational materials. We also managed to establish a long-term partnership with the local government to keep raise funding for children of need.
