Just 「In Images」

I took this photo during my first year at college. Assigned to make a self portrait for Photography101, I hastily set up my 7-dollar tripod in my triple-twin student dorm facing my bunk. Last minute, this photo was turned in with the caption:

I felt safe when shooting this photo and I am myself in this photo. I like the ways my eyes looked, for they were in the shadow.

I am grateful that, with my camera, I set out to be myself, and to shoot for myself, for my friends, and for my families. Although never close to perfection or professionalism, I got lucky. Taking photos, I have recorded love, loneliness, hope, and permanence.
